Hey everyone! Been a while since we posted here. Just wanted to give an update of what we are up to, thought some of you would be interested. After making Get Me Outta Here with GameSalad and releasing in 2017 we starting rebuilding a bigger remastered version with hopes of putting it on consoles and steam. We are excited that the game will be heading to the Nintendo Switch! Probably before the end of the year. Thankful for this community, you guys helped us out a lot getting started in making games. Wanted to share what we are up to. Retweets and sharing is always appreciated also But really wanted to come and post here because of how big GameSalad was in getting us started.

Thanks!
We rebuilt it in GameMakerStudio
Thanks, after the iOS release we were really pleased about the reviews and coverage the game got. I thought the game had more potential though and didn't want it to only exist on iOS. So I decided to rebuild it, I figured releasing a "remastered" version would need to be bigger than the original so I added some more stages with more bosses, and a co-op mode.
Then we reached out to a Switch publisher who ended up liking the game.

That is so awesome. Did you do the port yourselves or did you hire out? I'm always curious about how the transition from GameSalad works out and how much starting with GameSalad helps / hinders a move to one of the "bigger" engines.
Thanks!
Thank you. I rebuilt the game, and added features since it was being made for pc/consoles.
Gamesalad was far more of a help than a hinderance. When I first started working with Gamesalad I watched a ton of tutorials and asked a lot of questions on the forums to learn and wrap my mind around game logic. Starting on a new engine I already knew how to problem solve and make things work, the only help I needed was figuring out engine specific things. Gamesalad definitely helped me quickly to visually learn how to set up working game logic.
Of course each engine works a little different, so there are some things you need to "unlearn". But that isn't a big deal compared to the universal skills you pick up using gamesalad. Really the only big one is that the new engine I use processes every line of code every frame, like a constraint in Gamesalad. So I had to get used to that. It makes some things easier in that engine, while other things would be easier in Gamesalad's method.
