Interactive Technologies and Games (iTag) Hackathon Competition
Hi there,
I found a hackathon that might be of interest. It's a hackathon, in conjunction with an iTag Conference that I am attending. The hackathon will be held on 20 to 22nd of October 2015 at Nottingham Trent University, but registration and submission can be done online. So a great news for those who are living outside of the UK, and wanting to participate in this hackathon. The organising team will announce the theme for the hackathon on the morning of the 20th, and you will be notified via email, or you can check it on their website or Facebook/Twitter page (Website, Facebook, Twitter). Herewith some of the information about the hackathon:
Hackathon 2015! The ITAG Hackathon is a computer programming and game design competition which teams participate internationally or locally here at the host Nottingham Trent University. This Hackathon is part of an IEEE academic conference called the Interactive Technologies and Games Conference (ITAG). Goal The idea is to create a game (in the most general meaning of the idea) around the Hackathon theme* (secret: which will be revealed before the 3-day period). *The aim of the Hackathon is to develop an application that can benefit an educational environment or provide enhanced accessibility to a specified user base. For those that wish to take part, all they need to do is register as either an individual or team on our website. All participants can either take part at a designated venue or remotely. If you’re new to programming, you can use PocketCode to build your game! More on that here. Voting Voting by the ITAG IEEE conference delegates will take place, winning and runner-up teams will be acknowledged officially by NTU and iTag. Winning team is also awarded a total cash prize of £250. When? The Hackathon is taking place from Tuesday, October 20, 9 am until Thursday the October 22, 3 pm (GMT). Where? Nottingham Venue: The 3 day Hackathon programming challenge will be held in Nottingham Trent Pavilion Building in room 122. World Wide (www) Virtual participation is possible and highly encouraged. We keep the Hackathon theme (design task) secret until the scheduled start (when it will be announced here and by e-mail to all registered teams). It’s only a matter of knowing the task and submitting in time, online from anywhere.
I'm not in the organising team, but an attendee at the iTag Conference. But will cast my vote towards the hackathon submissions during the first day of the conference. I'm rooting for teams who've made the game with GameSalad! WooHOO!! I hope you find this information useful.
Cheers!

Hackathon apparently has taken on a whole new meaning. Usually this is what occurs (for the yuks) during Def Con.
