Can I upload multiple apps with the same provisioning profiles?

What I mean is, say I am making both an iPhone/iPod Touch version and an iPad version. Can I upload both versions using the same distribution provisioning profile, or would I have to make a provisioning profile for both versions?

    You will need a new appid and certificate for each app
    iPad and iPhone are treated as entirely separate apps

    I only have one certificate. It works for all my apps.

    Same but I had to create a new provisioning profile for my iPad app... app store wouldn't accept my file with the same one used for my iPhone version of the app.
