Is that right? I've always used 72dpi but made the image size bigger.
I didn't think computers recognised the difference beyond 72 dpi - isn't that if you're printing?
edit: I generally work in ipad, so I'd start with an image size of 2048x1536 for retina display, saved at 72 dpi.
