If I used the Back To The Future theme tune in my project I know it is illegal. I was wondering if changing it to 8 bit would make a difference of copyrights and stuff?
No... copyrights held by large companies are very likely to cover "Derivative" works. Meaning that you can NOT make something else out of what they published. Converting to 8bit would still be in violation of copyright.
Using any of their characters or using trademarked names like back to the future will get you rejected on the App Store. Before you invest tons of time do some research. It's better to develop you're own ideas and not try to profit on someone's copyright/trademark concept.
Actually, I wasn't going to release it to the app store, I am 14, just wanted to test myself in making a game of a subject that I like, this is for future reference.
