Template publishing

If i bought a complete game template, and changed actors appearances, sounds, and graphics but had the same mechanics. Are you legaly allowed to publish that?

You'd have to check with the author and/or the rights you purchased with the specific template to know for sure.

Unless specifically stated, a complete game template is just that - a complete game. You are buying the rights to use everything - graphics, sounds, mechanics.

Otherwise it wouldn't be a complete game

I just checked the description: "All sounds and graphics included." The mechanics are of course included, otherwise it wouldn't be a template So technically you can just upload that straight to the store if you wanted (though obviously doing so wouldn't be advised - but would be perfectly legal).

All the stuff I in the template I can stand for but the I am not the owner of the gameplay of flappy bird. So I can't give any advice about that.

Generally speaking, game mechanics themselves aren't copyrighted. If you use the same code and methods to implement them, then that starts to enter a grey area. But the mechanics themselves aren't protected.

That's why you can see games like Words with Friends and 99% of the iOS app store.

As long as LumpApps didn't reverse engineer Flappy Bird, rip out the exact code and logic used to make it, and then use that to make his game, all is good. I'll be damn impressed if he did though :P

Bear in mind the more you change the better your chances, there's been a lot of games featured by apple based of our templates but the users have at least changed the art and in most cases added extras.
