So.... date of next stable build is __________ ? Is there not a deadline or something as to when we can expect it?
Not trying to be a downer, just been telling my people that features are coming soon and the wait is making them start to not believe me. We are slowly moving our small games we were building with GS over to other platforms. I WANT to build these with GS and get them out the door, but I can't sit on the completed Art we have and the lack of monetization for too long.

What does 0.0.0.216 mean? Especially in relation to 0.11.0?
216 is obviously in relation to the date it was released (Feb 16th), however I have no idea what the reason is for the preceding 3 zeros. Doubtful it has anything in common with the stable build numerical value either.
Lmao it's still January it's just how many days since the nightlies started. They do a build every day just don't release everyday because sometimes there are no changes.
As far as relation to 0.11.0 there is none. 0.11.0 is the next stable release. The nightly build number will continue increasing every day until they "pinch off" a stable release.

Yeah what in Heaven's name was I thinking???? hahahahahah
I fall back on my original number. 1.10 The stable creator is for the public. It has a pro version, that GS charges for.It has loads of features. People are making money. Apps are being approved. The creator does what it says it can do. It will continue to do more. Apps created by previous and current versions of the creator have won awards and decent high ranking among competitor apps. There is no reason to call the creator. " BETA ". I can see how nightly builds are beta. They are testing new features and bug for new features.
How can you ever be out of beta. When by the time a feature is ready and bug free. It took 6 months to a year because while working on the bugs in feature one. They added feature 2,3, and 4. And because of 2,3,and 4 ha ing bugs and those bugs needing worked on. The bugs in feature one took longer to fix. Then when feature 1 was ready. And now they could focus on feature 2 ( while still working on 3 and 4 mind you). They decided to add feature 5 and 6, which now have bugs. Which now in turn takes time away from feature 2 being finished. Oh lets dont forget about 3 and 4. Now 2 is ready. And even though they know how important feature 3 is. Today they are releasing a nightly build for features 7 and 8. So if this is the way GS wants to determine if they are or are not in beta. Then GS will always be in beta. There will always be new devices, new 3rd party company services that will make great addition to GS. So Lets just put a big ole sticker image on the front page and call it GameSalad-The ever growing beta.
@natzuur We have sprite sheets and batching implemented in the engine and need to get the feature in Creator. That's the hold up. We're head's down fixing 40 some bugs in the current build before adding more!
@Trunks@AlvinF Chartboost and Revmob are done. I'll verify when the web publishing part will be complete. You'll need to use the nightly builds to take advantage of them until 0.11.0 is out.
'software or a system at the beta development stage for an extended or indefinite period of time. It is often used by developers when they continue to release new features that might not be fully tested.'

Really?.... youre gonna come at this ... with that? Really?
no. you are either something that gets better and advances. Or you die along the way. New Features does not keep something in beta. Game Salad makes Apps. its does that now. It will continue to do so and will continue to strive to improve itself.
Adobe products are not in beta. The new cloud feature they are trying out. That was in beta for awhile and is now polished enough to give it a world wide test. But that doesnt mean Photoshop and illustrator versions 2 years ago were in beta. Right now possibly Adobe CS 8 might be in a behind the scenes types beta. But that doesnt mean Photo shop and illustrator are in beta. Just the new versions. If you want to use "Perpetual Beta" Then that means Adobe has been in a Perpetual Beta since the day it first hit the Shelves.
So you tell me.. What will it take for Gamesalad to no longer consider it self, beta? Do you think that day will come when there are no more features being debugged? When there are no more nightly builds being worked on? That will never stop. All software companies continue to make changes and better themselves. Perpetual Beta? hmmm maybe thats the problem.. More features being worked on than they actually can. Maybe they should make a standard policy. " Hey we are already working on 5 unfinished features. So lets not even walk in conference room and talk about other possible features, till we are sure we can even provide the 5 we are advertising.
@FINNBOGG I think it will at least need to be stable and that hasn't been achieved yet. I know it should have happened by now but it is what it is. Maybe if they get a stable version 0.11 that will be enough for them to go v1.0.
I don't know if i'm missing something, but if you woke up tomorrow and the name had changed to 1.0, how would that affect you?
It would still be the same thing no matter what it's called.
I mean, if Ford decided to change the name of my crappy old Ford Focus to 'The Ford Bugatti Veyron', I would still be driving a barely roadworthy heap of junk. |)
@Fal01 I agree with what you say. Im just curious as to why they still consider this "Beta" Its not stable because they stay so deep in adding features and adding them so fast and so many at one time it never seems anywhere close to being stable. But the fact of the matter is. The creator is suppose to give the user the ability to make a game and publish it to apple. It does that. Now everything else is just addons and features. That is where nightly builds comes into play. Nightly builds arent used by everyone. and they are used to help fix bugs and report issues. Once smoothed out they are added to the currently Public Build and released as a new version of the creator for the public to use and for some to purchase as a yearly Pro subscription.
To me that "public build" shouldnt be considered beta.
no. you are either something that gets better and advances. Or you die along the way.
What can I say, perpetual beta exists and GameSalad fits the description and as Fal01 says all we are really dealing with here is the title of the software, if it's a major issue for you, you could open the splash-screen resource file into Photoshop and brush out the word 'beta'.
And still no advertising revenue on the android platform. First GS choose an company that was widely known as bankrupt when GS joins the train and now we are waiting for an alternatives for ages... New year same story...
People need to relax and let the developers do what they have been doing, it's obviously been successful thus far. I personally appreciate the roadmap and future planned ideas as it gives you a general idea what to expect, whether thats a few months or years. At least we know it's on their timeline- many developers don't share such information as it's constantly changing.
As for as beta vs full release… does it really matter? Let the developers figure when THEY are happy with THEIR product. If they released it as full, and people find bugs, they'll be shouting about how could they release a buggy product. So it's kind of good to keep it beta especially if they are constantly adding stuff that will inevitably have bugs.

I personally am very grateful for Gamesalad and the continued support both from the community and the Devs.
hahahaha okay I wait, I want see the new game salad version with chart boost and revmob!!!! when??????? WHEN???? hahahahaha, thank you @SnapFireStudios
Thank you GS for doing a great job and for a great product. Not a lot of people understand the amount of effort it takes to clean, debug, tidy up and rewrite code. If you tried it you would be pulling your hair out. I am very grateful for the software and for the effort which is been done by the team. Considering the amount of work and code changes we are very lucky that we have a stable release to still develop apps with. It would have been a lot worse if there was a major error and the software was unusable for a while wouldn't it ??? Things are going well taking in consideration the complexity of the job at hand ... Things are happening it just takes time ... Keep up the great work ... Cheers and thank you ;-)

As much as I love they software, it's obviously still a beta product, there are still way to many bugs and basic features missing.
I think 2014 could be an awesome year for gs once the train starts rolling along.

Where exactly?

The description I posted seems to match the GameSalad we know and love, so I'd say it was a reasonable description of GameSalad.

It’s not a bug – it’s an undocumented feature
