armv7, what are you?

I have been publishing tonight and I keep seeing require armv7 in the advanced options. It's set off by default so I have been leaving it off. What is armv7 and do I want it on or off?

    Arm7 is the processor that is used in 3GS. If you tick Arm7, your app will only be available for 3GS phones and newer. If it is processor heavy and doesn't run well/crashes on a 3G, then tick it :)

    I'm still confused, then why do they have the option right underneath it to have the minimum support version be 3g or above if armv7 means that as well. Why have 2 options for the same thing?

    Sorry if I am not making sense. It's 1am!

    Just realized, I should have searched the forums first, I usually do but this time I went to wikipedia to search for armv7 and ended up all sorts of confused! Why I went to wikipedia, who knows. When my brain stops working I guess that means it's time for bed.

    well arm7 is the processor, and is different then the version number.

    For example if you set it to arm v7 with 3.0 minimum version number. The user has to have a device with armv7 AND have a minimum firmware of 3.0

    Ok, so I am ashamed to admit, I don't really understand what you just wrote to me John. Here is my game plan. I am now going to bed. When I awake, I will come back to this thread and re-read it. I am sure it will make more sense in the morning.

    If it runs fine on an iPhone 3G or earlier, don't tick it. If it runs badly, tick it - Simple :)

    How far along are you? I have a 15 week daughter.

    I am a musician in a touring band, so good call on the alcohol currency, it basically lines my arteries :)

    Yeah, She's my first. Luckily our record label have asked us to take the rest of the year to write the next album, so I have had loads of spare time to be with her! Just meetings, photo and video shoots and the odd studio session, apart from that, free as a bird :)

    Awesome! Congratulations! You're not far enough along to blame your 'dizziness' on your pregnancy yet, either :P

    Just FYI. I don't think anyone answered your version number Question in the Advanced Options Menu.

    The Version numbers listed are iOS versions not device Generations. Hope that clears up any remaining mud in the waters. :)

    Congratulations on being a new dad! How exciting! What a gift to be able to be home with her! I bet your wife is appreciating the help and having you home at this time. Give her lots of naps!

    You're right, I can't blame it on little KeWe ....yet. But until then, lack of sleep seems like a fine scapegoat. Or I can just blame it on the altitude, that is what everyone does out here in the Rockies. If your cookies burn, must be the altitude. If you are feeling sick, must be the altitude.
