do i HAVE to pay $99?

i want to make a game for my iphone and i honestly don't care if it goes to the app store or not. i just want to be able to put it on my iphone and play it and show it to my friends. is their a way to do this without buying a subscription from apple for $99 a year?

    especially $99 for 1 game that im making just for the hell of it :(

    Yes you have to buy the apple subscription just like everyone else. Sorry. You can always publish it to the Arcade and then access the arcade version from an iOS device.

    so if i publish to the arcade then when i go on a ipod/iphone i can play the game as if its an app?

    Not exactly. It will be playable but it will not open as a web app. It will still be embedded in a webpage and you will have to zoom out a little to get the full view. But it can play

    would it be worth it to spend $99 if i sell my game for $1? how many people do you think would download it?

    make the game , publish it to arcade and let us play to see if it's sellable :P
