Its actually not nearly as bad as its made out to be if you read the Full press release. He is now the Chairman of the board so not day to day business but his hands will still be in there.

Its old news because there is already another thread that has been going for an hour. It was Sarcasm and Me pointing out why ppl should take a look at the forum before posting to make sure they are not creating unnecessary duplicate Threads.
This is really sad I just saw it now Steve is such an extraordinary person I just wish he could continue regular duties since he has really affected the world. Especially us who makes apps on the devices he thought up. Hopefully his health will regain and he can continue to be active in apple.
Cheers, Weswog

Guys he's still the Chairman of the board and I believe the Majority Stock Holder. He still has plenty of say on where the company is going. Im sure the stocks will dip on the half complete news being reported. But it will come back.
Sad day but I just hope he will focus in getting well, if it is still possible. I saw him a few weeks ago, I can tell you that it is a smart move for Apple considering his health. Timing is also good, the stock will get a hit but with iPhone 5 and Sprint around the corner, it will bounce back in a few weeks.
Very sad, but not surprising at all considering his health issues, and battle with pancreatic cancer, which has the lowest survival rate of most cancers...
The stock took a 5% hit today, but will be interesting to see where it settles at in the coming days...
Apple is in a good position now, thanks to him, and I'm sure it will continue to do well.
They just put on official words what was already happening. Steve was already on medical leave from the start of the year and the company was already in the hands of Cook.
They made it official, that's all. Nothing to be scared of, Apple will continue as always. Steve only provided inputs and some crazy ideas, all the wonders were actually created by the hands of great guys like Scott Forstall and Jonathan Ive.
The stocks will obviously take a moderate dip (stock traders get scared even when I sneeze) but will quickly be up following new products announcements from Apple, so don't run to sell them. Be faithful.

Just saw this on the TV.
Hope you don't have Apple Stock. I bet it takes a dip.
If the news people dont explain the whole situation it will affect things

On the bright side it is happening at the best point in Apples history so far.
His letter is very pragmatic and humble. He still seems to be the best at presenting so I hope we see him at the company keynotes.

Perhaps we should start a new thread: If there was no SJ...

I just thought of something: GameSalad has Sous-Chefs and Head Chefs, yet Apple only has a Cook...
