I'm not sure how in-app purchases are going to work with the Lodsys stuff. I'm actually glad that GameSalad took so long to add the feature. Now I'm not involved with this patent stuff.
As to in-app purchases in general. I think those most excited by the idea of in-app purchases should try the old trick of 'making a good game'.
If your game isn't good, you'll just end up making a post a few days after the release of your game called: "My game's free, and IAP sales are zero - what did I do wrong?"
Also, I'm kinda glad we don't have it, otherwise I fear everyone will go down the route Corona developers have - which penalises you unfairly unless you buy stuff in-game. Horrible route to take that...
