Game look like a cartoon or painting?

Hi I'm making a game and I would love to know what peeps own taughts are on this? What look do you like? At the moment I am going down the painting route but more of a living painting so eveything is animated even the background. The artwork in the pic you can see is draft 2 of about ten. Still not sure if I should go down the cartoon route. Does anyone know any games that have graphics that look like paintings?

    "Tiny wings" kinda has a painted feel to it's graphics.

    It does a bit. The look I am trying to get to for my game is like a Post-Impressionism look kinda like Vincent van Gogh landscape paintings. Don't know how that would work with a lobster and monkey as main characters though :)
