Portrait / Avatar Not Working ?

Is this just me or is the portrait / avatar item not working on profiles ? I uploaded an image and never get a tick to say it has been accepted, I use a standard .png image ( no compression ), at 300x300 pixels. I have tried other images but to no avail, nothing is accepted ?
