Spawning on platforms.

Hi everyone.
Can anyone refer me to a tutorial/video or offer advice on the following:
Im building a runner game, but i need an enemy to spawn ontop of the platforms...but at random. Otherwise itl be pretty repetitive.
Am i correct by saying, il go into the platform actor...and use a "spawn actor"...and just keep to the same random areas that the platforms appear on?
Please let me know..iv asked this a couple times, but i havnt gotten a single reply.
