Doodle Rain SD sells amazingly on first day

Hello.
After having Doodle Rain HD on the store for about one month with decent sales, yesterday e iPhone version, Doodle Rain SD was release and had an amazing sales record on a single day.
I cant share the absolute numbers but I would like to understand the reasons so, I assume it must have had some nothworty or something like that but I cant find anything.
Is there a way to know if an app got any special promotion on the app store ?
Have you had any similar experience?
