Wow... the more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm surprised it was Tetris. I think people would have had enough of this game after the Gameboy and all those Tetris clones.
Now tetras attack (the one with yoshi on snes) has to be one of the greatest games of all time
I have probably logged as much two player on that as I did mario kart And goldeneye on the 64
Sidenote.... Less then 10 levels left to have three stars on every angry birds level. I'm surprised it never caught on like some other games. It is truly some of the best gameplay ever.
The best thing is, Angry Birds was released in December and it was struggling at rank 200-300 until it got featured in February in "What's hot" (look it up on appannie.com, if it is working again).
Until then nobody knew about it.
I think, the game has to be good, but even if it is good you need luck and a bit "backwind"

They'll be #2 until the Tetris sale is over or the new update gets released probably. #2 doesn't mean its out, by far. It will be back to #1 soon enough since it's now getting publicity for being second. My guess at least lol.
Nice. Still, this is why we'll never see true AAA titles on the iPhone. They can't compete, even at $10-14 each as the games can cost tens of millions to produce. Shenmue on the Dreamcast was approximately 70 million dollars!
This makes me glad. As much as I love the iPhone... it kinda has destroyed handheld gaming in a lot of ways. I used to have to save up for a game, which meant I actually played and appreciated it more. Now, even if a game is excellent, at 99c it tends to get cast aside as there are so many more to check out...
Thank God we still have proper consoles, with expensive games! If Steve Jobs ever releases a game console with an App Store, I may just have to kill him.
EDIT: Not to mention the fact that holding a physical copy of the game in your hand is SOOOO much nicer. *looks lovingly at Mega Drive collection*
